THE FRIENDS OF THE GLADSTONE THEATRE

Th Friends Of The Gladstone Theatre was formed in 1997, under the patronage of the late Dame Dorothy Tutin CBE. Its aim is to encourage the participation of people who enjoy the theatre, but do not wish to perform.

By becoming a Friend Of The Gladstone Theatre, your practical support could make an important contribution to maintaining the high standards of the Theatre.

The Theatre is always looking for:

- Auditorium Stewards to welcome patrons, sell programmes, ices and refreshments - plus Fire Stewards, to ensure audience safety.

- Bar Staff, Catering and Maintenance Helpers.

- People already skilled in - or enthusiastic to learn - sound and lighting techniques, set design and creation, wardrobe and theatre administration.

Friends Of The Theatre enjoy many privileges:

- Concessionary Ticket Prices

- Priority Bookings. Advance mailing of each new season's listings to allow early reservations.

- Membership of the Gladstone Theatre Trust - with full voting rights.

- A regular newsletter, giving updated information and news of happenings in the Theatre.

Membership charges:

- £7.50 per year, for Friends aged 18 or over.

- £12 for joint membership, at the same address.

- £5 for students over the age of 16.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Job Description: General Assistant (voluntary position)
No experience necessary but candidates must be self-motivated, committed and able to work evenings

1. Assists in setting up audio and lighting facilities for theatre bookings on the instructions of the Theatre Management Team only.
2. Assists in set building and painting where requested
3. Carries out minor repairs and maintenance in the theatre as required and in liaison with the Theatre Management Team.
4. Displays bill-board posters in chronological order as supplied and requested by the Theatre Manager
5. Ensures that microphones, cables and equipment are properly stored after each use
6. Ensures that the control room, audio store, lighting perch and gantry and the grid gallery are kept in a tidy condition


Job Description: Theatre Steward (voluntary position)
No experience necessary but candidates must be self-motivated, committed and able to work evenings.

1. Your main responsibility will be the safety and supervision of the audience members
2. Arrive 15 minutes before the performance begins
3. The House Manager will allocate your duty position in the auditorium and will tell you your responsibilities
4. You will be given one of the emergency exits to supervise i.e. the main theatre entrance, the Greendale Road entrance /exit door, the auditorium to bar door, the bar to yard entrance /exit door.

Job Description: Ice Cream Sellers (voluntary position)
No experience necessary, able to work evenings.

1 Arrive at the theatre 15 minutes before the performance
2 Obtain floats from the Bar
3 Arrange to have ice creams ready before the interval and be ready to move into the auditorium as soon as the interval starts


Job Description: Fire Steward (voluntary position)
No experience necessary but candidates must be self-motivated, committed and able to work evenings. Full training will be given.

Job Description: House Manager (voluntary Position)
No experience necessary but candidates must be self-motivated, responsible, committed and able to work evenings.

1 Open Theatre
2 Switch on House lights and Emergency lights
3 Liaise with the appointed Fire Steward, Theatre Stewards, Programme Sellers Box Office staff, Technical Team and Bar
4 Over see all Stewards
5 Distribute appropriate name badges
6 Arrange a tidying up team for the auditorium
7 At the end of a performance follow the lock-up procedure
